Our client is a large local government organisation and looking for an experienced Business / Clients Manager to join their team. This is initially a 3 month contract which may be extended for the right applicant

You will

To be responsible for undertaking client & contract management with the Councils Integrated Waste Disposal and Collection company, and other waste related contractors using technical knowledge of the following:-

    1. Waste Collection
    2. Waste Disposal and Treatment
    3. Street Cleansing
    4. Winter maintenance
    5. Commercial Waste

To prepare specification and contract particulars for all service provision and develop performance management systems for the continuous monitoring of all contracts, providing regular feedback to the Service Director regarding contract performance. Taking action to work with the Company to remedy problems or implement improvements to services. This will include directing contractors when there is a shortfall in expected service delivery.

To collate process and interpret waste statistics on all areas of the city’s waste management system in order to prepare statistics for the calculation, submission to the Audit Commission, and Defra and to ensure data is prepared in appropriate ways to comply with the Waste and Emissions Trading Act as required by statute.

To manage the Health and Safety performance of the Waste Service as required of a contracting authority by the Health and Safety Executive. To ensure compliance with Permits, Licences etc, and other regulatory requirements.

To work in partnership with colleagues across the Neighbourhoods, Parks and enforcement service, Bristol Waste Company, and Council customer services teams to ensure a joined-up approach to waste management and cleansing to meet customer’s needs. This includes facilitating and finalising agreements between waste contractors and colleagues in Legal and Property in relation to the occupation and future development of waste sites.

To work in partnership with other external stakeholders inside and outside the city, including officers from adjoining local authorities, DEFRA and other bodies of national or regional significance.

To work with partners, Bristol Waste Company and other council departments on waste related procurement activities on re-commissioned and new contracts. This includes leading where Bristol City Council is contracting directly and where contracts are managed on the Council’s behalf.

To manage the Councils end of customer service with respect to waste services, this will include carrying out reviews of fees and charges with respect to Waste services and directing the contact centre and web teams to improve council interfaces with residents. Identifying improvement methods of customer engagement through application of the Council’s Digital Strategy
