About the role:

In this new role, you’ll play a critical part of our business evolution by optimising labour utilisation, enhancing workforce productivity, and driving operational efficiency across our complex retail network on board cruise ships.

You’ll analyse labour trends, conduct time and motion studies, and create comprehensive labour models to improve performance while ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer experience standards and crew lifestyle enhancement.

The role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with occasional days in our Avonmouth office plus additional international travel as part of your induction.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Analyse workforce data to assess labour utilisation, productivity metrics, and cost efficiency across retail locations to drive efficiencies and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Conduct detailed time and motion studies to evaluate task efficiency and streamline workflows, recommending process improvements.
  • Design and implement scalable labour models that align with business needs, sales forecasts, and operational requirements.
  • Develop and implement labour planning models to ensure optimal staffing levels across varying operational needs, partnering with Retail Operations to forecast labour requirements based on sales patterns, seasonality, and customer traffic.
  • Design and lead initiatives to enhance employee productivity, reduce overtime, and align labour spending with operational goals, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop and present labour performance dashboards, reports, and insights to senior leadership as well as real-time analytics to inform decision-making at both store and corporate levels.
  • Collaborate with retail operations, HR, and finance teams to ensure alignment on labour and productivity strategies and support store leadership teams on workforce management tools, labour models, and productivity strategies.

About you:

  • Substantial proven experience in labour analysis, workforce planning, or productivity management, within the retail industry.
  • Hands-on experience conducting time and motion studies and applying findings to improve operations.
  • Expertise in creating and managing comprehensive labour models.
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in using data visualisation and workforce management tools (e.g., Kronos, Reflexis, or similar platforms).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to build relationships across the business to drive results.
  • Familiarity with retail KPIs such as sales-per-hour, footfall analysis, and conversion rates.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma would be advantageous
