Job Summary:
* Seeking an experienced professional in structural design for aircraft, specializing in airframe development.
* Requires a degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
* Experience with advanced aerial vehicle design, build, and testing is a significant advantage.
Role Description:
* Work on the design and development of airframe structures for an advanced aerial vehicle prototype.
* Provide comprehensive design services, including the preparation of composite and metallic structural definitions for details and assemblies.
* Deliver design and design-checking expertise on a project basis, ensuring weekly deliverables align with engineering standards.
* Contribute to creating model-based definitions within a 3D digital mock-up environment.
* Collaborate with systems integration teams to maintain compatibility and ensure structural designs accommodate system routing needs.
* Operate as part of a cohesive design team, reporting to a designated Lead Engineer and the broader Program Design Lead.
* Hybrid work arrangements are available, though occasional physical attendance for critical meetings and reviews at client sites will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Define and refine design solutions for new and modified components (composite and metallic) with consideration for cost, weight, manufacturability, serviceability, and performance.
* Provide evidence of compliance with technical and customer specifications.
* Prepare detailed engineering drawings and data required for manufacturing and customer submissions.
* Support manufacturing and certification processes by producing engineering change notices (ECNs) as needed.
* Ensure high-quality deliverables, meeting both internal and customer expectations.
Essential Skills:
* Extensive experience in structural design for aerospace applications, particularly in airframe development (metallic and composite structures).
* Strong knowledge of aero structures, including wings, fuselage, and empennage.
* Proficiency in 3D design and analysis tools (e.g., CATIA V5).
* Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
* Familiarity with composite and metallic materials and their manufacturing processes.
* Customer-focused, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
* Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
Preferred Skills:
* Experience with Dassault 3D Experience.
* Proficiency in PLM systems such as Windchill.
