Randstad is working with a leading UK water sector company to recruit a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality engineering design services, ensuring the successful delivery of turnkey and engineering services contracts while minimising risks and maximising profits.
The Role
You will work directly with the Regional Discipline Lead, responsible for coordinating and producing design documents and drawings while ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, project specifications, and relevant standards. Your efforts will be crucial in delivering effective, cost-efficient designs that meet project needs and can be constructed and commissioned smoothly.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Designing cost-effective layouts that comply with specifications and facilitate efficient construction and commissioning.
- Adhering to standard practices to maintain high-quality design outputs.
- Providing estimates and feedback to assist the proposals department.
- Contributing to the continuous development of department procedures and processes.
- Writing, updating, and monitoring procedures to ensure smooth departmental operations.
- Coordinating designs across various internal and external disciplines to optimise contract execution.
- Ensuring designs take environmental and health and safety factors into account.
- Working within a customer-focused culture to ensure all stakeholders are satisfied.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a solid understanding of water and sewage treatment processes, along with a proven ability to produce rational, cost-effective designs. The successful candidate will have:
Essential:
- A strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
- A minimum of an HND in a relevant engineering discipline (Degree preferred).
- The ability to produce rational designs and plant layouts that are cost-effective.
- Flexibility in thinking and the ability to handle large volumes of information.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical proposals clearly and confidently.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
