Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer

Location: Hinkley Point C site, SomersetSecurity Clearance: BPSSReports to: Project ManagerPay Rate: Circa £80 per hour

Role Summary:As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will provide support to ensure the effective delivery of activities in the programme, meeting safety, quality, time, and cost targets. Your role will be essential in building strong relationships to ensure project success. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of the UK's first new-build nuclear power station, critical to the UK NetZero targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the delivery of contract activities, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Develop and implement strategies and plans aligned with the overall programme execution plan (PEP).
  • Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders and execute project strategies within the contract.
  • Monitor and manage the schedule, track progress against milestones, and provide reports to key stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve issues within the contract, manage risks, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Ensure lessons learned and knowledge capture are integral to business practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with project team members.

Key Deliverables:

  • General Management: Provide engineering and management resources to supervise and support project operations.
  • Customer Service: Maintain high standards and improve customer service by implementing appropriate procedures and initiatives.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure all project operations comply with relevant standards and legislation.
  • Commercial Performance: Monitor and review project financial performance against targets, ensuring timely variation agreements and preparation of final accounts.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety standards for all project activities.
  • Business Development: Maintain and develop customer contacts to increase project workload.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

  • ONC in Mechanical Engineering (Piped Systems, HVAC, Drainage Heating & Cooling), with progress towards HNC preferred.
  • Experience delivering projects in complex environments, preferably within regulated sectors like Nuclear Energy.
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety culture and quality assurance processes.
  • Working knowledge of Project Management, financial management, and engineering or construction activities.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and multi-level collaboration.

Working Pattern and Location:

  • First 6-9 months: Bristol
  • Late 2025/Early 2026 onward: Hinkley Point C Construction Site, Bridgwater, Somerset
