Due to our ongoing growth plans, we are currently recruiting for a Proposals and Pricing Engineer to join our established Sales team. Reporting to the Head of Proposals and Commercial Development, the aim of the role is to manage, and co-ordinate work winning proposals, tendering, pricing and commercial processes within Framatome Ltd from the receipt of the early-stage tender documents to bid submission working closely with the business development, technical, procurement and legal functions.
The role will have oversight of the tendering process from start to finish and you will be a proven to lead best practice delivery of pricing, risk management & opportunity management and delivery of proposals, consistently improving the way we bid to our client base through continuous improvement.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- End to end tender co-ordination, planning and management.
- Leading best practice methodology for pricing and profit validation of tenders within the business.
- Leading best practice methodology for risk, opportunity and assumption management of tenders.
- Supporting detail of responsibilities:
- Analyse tender documents to define customer requirements, submit queries and assign tasks to complete within the business development team and other key functions in the organisation (e.g., operation and technical functions)
- Undertake a key role in all steps of the gated approval process including preparation of slides, planning for, chairing meetings and taking / communicating actions.
- Undertake a key role in all steps of the proposals process including development, chair meetings and completion of proposal documents, risk registers and cost models.
- In conjunction with finance and operations, formulate costings, cashflow and derive selling prices consistent within company policy, market sector and strategic requirement. These should be rolled out into standard pricing tools for ease of use within the business.
- In conjunction with legal and operations, provides commercial and contract assurance against Framatome Ltd and corporate governance requirements.
- Co-ordination and management of the early-stage tender process (e.g., EOI/RFI/PQQ) including key steps such as capture planning, requirements capture and storyboarding.
- Project manage, including the creation of plans, working with UK and international stakeholders, to formulate and complete bid responses of a high quality demonstrating the capabilities of the Framatome Ltd organisation.
- Visit customers or partners for tender discussions and business development where required.
- Follow up on tender submissions to get feedback and use this information in a continuous improvement process in the bidding process, including information exchange, the use of templates etc.
- Report and Monitor using internal CRM, or wider solutions, the success of bids and provide reporting on sales activities and lessons learnt.
- Management of the proposals, risk management and pricing templates and libraries of tender material
- In addition to your normal duties, you may occasionally be required to undertake additional work necessary to meet the needs of the business, without additional remuneration.
Required Attributes:
- Degree qualified.
- Member of, or qualified by, a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, APMP).
- 5+ years of experience in pricing, risk management and tendering.
- Willingness to travel where required to support bid development, collaboration with partners and submission.
Supporting skills
- A positive safety culture and a passion for inclusion, equality, diversity and collaboration.
- Has the experience to develop and coach both existing and new proposal team members.
- Can both derive writing plans and winning bids on their own or as part of a team, ideally with training in Shipley or equivalent work winning best practice.
- Track record of successfully planning to and winning multi-disciplinary turnkey-bids, appreciation of NEC3/4 will be highly advantageous.
- Attention to detail to provide a bid the meets or exceeds customer expectation including managing lessons learnt activities to ensure continuous improvement, win or lose.
- Commercially strong with the experience to build up project costs and attribute sales margin.
- An understanding of technical documentation including a specialism in pricing, planning and risk management from tendering through to handover with delivery.
- Excellent communications skills to talk with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills with an eye for detail.
- A drive and passion to join a growing organisation in the UK Nuclear sector and develop skills to aid in ongoing career development.
