Working as part of a dynamic and reactive team you will be responsible for the analysis and justification of metallic and composite wing structures for static strength to support structural repairs according to validated methods. You will ensure adherence to airworthiness regulations, relevant design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capability guidelines. Your primary role will be to provide stress analysis for the repair/acceptance of damaged aircraft structures, whilst working with Design & F&DT engineers, within challenging timeframes.

We are a dynamic and reactive team providing structural repair support to Airbus operators and maintenance organisations for the full Airbus fleet. Our goal is to provide bespoke and optimum repair solutions in response to damage reports, ensuring operator schedules are maintained and aircraft downtime is kept to a minimum. We enjoy the challenge of creating and delivering repairs for any sort of damage, anywhere on the wing structure!

Responsibilities

  • Perform static strength analysis for repairs using Airbus approved methods and tools
  • Create, compile and co-ordinate static strength justification reports and associated engineering documentation
  • Ensure all tasks and activities required for Repair Engineering are correctly planned, monitored and executed to achieve customer time scales
  • Work in conjunction with the Repair Design and F&DT Engineers to develop optimum repairs

Skill Set

Essential

  • The requirement is for an Engineer with an Aerospace Engineering background, with experience of how airframe repairs are developed and justified
  • You are able to manage multiple priorities to time, cost and quality in a challenging and fast paced environment
  • You enjoy working as part of a team to develop effective solutions to complex technical problems and ensure efficient delivery of tasks
  • Aerospace Engineering degree (or equivalent) and relevant engineering experience
  • Experience of static analysis of aircraft structures using a range of hand and computer methods
  • An understanding of the fundamental methods of static stress analysis and an ability to develop these methods
  • Knowledge and experience of using Airbus static strength analysis tools and methods (including ISAMI and Mathcad)
  • Experience of compiling static strength justification reports to Airbus standards and ways of working
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

Desirable

  • Be conversant with technical requirements for repair design
  • Working knowledge of Airbus structures
  • Some knowledge of the application of FE analysis
  • Stress Engineering background, aircraft preferred
  • Delegated signature for structural analysis (or development towards)
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability
