Join our innovative team as a Mechanical Design Engineer, where you will have the opportunity to work on both customer and development projects in a highly collaborative environment. Day-to-day of the role:- Perform design work for customer and development projects, ensuring all mechanical aspects are well-coordinated and integrated with other engineering disciplines.
- Attend specification meetings with global customers, providing expert contributions on mechanical design aspects.
- Provide technical guidance internally and externally, and take responsibility for the mechanical integrity of projects.
- Communicate effectively with other design engineers to ensure seamless project development.
- Travel occasionally to both UK and international destinations as required by project needs.
- Generate creative design concepts and produce detailed schemes, parts lists, assembly, and detail drawings.
- Manage project timelines and adhere to cost targets in design, purchasing, and assembly phases.
- Conduct risk assessments on machinery and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Stay updated with developments in safety legislation and participate in relevant training.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Support assembly personnel during the build phase and assist in project commissioning.
- Assist the Sales team and Applications Manager with technical drawings and project estimations.
- Advanced 3D modelling skills, preferably in SolidWorks. Experience with sheet metal is advantageous.
- Proven ability in design for manufacture and assembly, meeting cost and time targets.
- Ability to produce and interpret 2D production drawings with GD&T.
- Capable of performing engineering calculations and analysis as needed.
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in a Design/Development Engineering role, preferably in electro-mechanical equipment.
- Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Integrated Engineering, or a related field (Minimum HNC).
- Knowledge of machinery directives and UKCA/CE marking standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead technically on larger projects.
