Locum Band 6 Occupational Therapist - Reablement Team

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Locum Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Reablement Team based in Keynsham, Bristol. The successful candidate will work closely with individuals to help them regain their independence and improve their quality of life following illness or injury. This role involves providing holistic, person-centered care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support clients in their homes and community settings.

Assessment and Evaluation

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' physical, cognitive, and functional abilities.
  • Develop individualized reablement plans based on assessment findings and client goals.
  • Use standardized assessment tools and clinical observations to inform therapy plans.

Therapeutic Interventions

  • Implement a range of evidence-based interventions to support clients in regaining skills for daily living.
  • Provide guidance on adaptive techniques and the use of assistive devices to enhance independence.
  • Deliver therapeutic activities designed to improve mobility, self-care, and safety within the home environment.

Collaborative Care

  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, social workers, and support staff, to ensure coordinated and effective care.
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and discharge planning sessions.
  • Educate clients, families, and caregivers on reablement strategies and ongoing support needs.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards for documentation.
  • Provide detailed reports and updates to the multidisciplinary team as required.

Professional Development

  • Stay current with advancements in occupational therapy practices and relevant research.
  • Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) activities and reflective practice.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and occupational therapy students as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • At least 2 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant clinical setting.
  • Experience in reablement or community-based occupational therapy.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within a reablement team or similar setting.
  • Knowledge of current best practices and evidence-based approaches in occupational therapy.
  • Training in specific therapeutic techniques relevant to reablement and rehabilitation.
