Best Interest Assessor

Bristol City Council are looking to expand their current team. Bristol City Council is looking for a Best Interest Assessor to join a well-structured and organised team. As well as joining a supportive team our client also offers a competitive salary, opportunities for training to enhance your skills and potential progression within your team. This Best Interest Assessor role will be for an initial 3-6 months with potential for extension subject to internal circumstance and your performance.

Best Interest Assessor Responsibilities Include:

  • Authorisation of DoLS Assessments (completing Form 5 and 6)
  • DoLS Compliance / Quality Assurance
  • Working closely with other relevant agencies
  • Dealing with queries and Case Recordings.
  • Completing Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Assessments to decide whether care home residents or hospital patients who lack the capacity to consent to their accommodation, care arrangements and treatments are being deprived of their liberty and if so whether this is in their best interests or not, necessary to prevent harm to them and proportionate to the risk or likelihood of that harm.
  • Carry out Best Interests assessments, adhering to Policies and Procedures.
  • Collaborate with s12 doctors and partners in the health and independent sector to ensure DoLS assessments are conducted.
  • Make referrals and identify less restrictive care plans where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of work activities in compliance with approved Policies and Procedures.
  • Support the MCA/DoLS Lead and contribute to team development, ensuring BIA status is maintained.

Requirements / Experience preferred:

  • Post qualifying experience of working as a Best Interest Assessor within the UK Social Care industry.
  • HCPC Registration
  • 1-2 years post qualifying experience within the UK Social Care industry
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
