Role - Visitor Assistant - Museums
Location - Various across Edinburgh City Centre
Duration - Temporary, ongoing
Hours - 36 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7
Start date - As soon as possible
Pay rate - 13.26 per hour



Pertemps are working with our public sector organisation to recruit for a number of Visitor Assistants across their portfolio of museums across central Edinburgh. These include Museum of Edinburgh, City Art Centre, Writers Museum, Museum of Childhood, & Peoples Story Museum.

Please note that this role will require working full time five days over seven including 1 hour lunch break per day, working alternative Saturdays and Sundays. This will involve working indoors and outdoors due to the historic nature of the buildings and will require climbing and descending a lot of stairs daily.

We are looking for individuals who can deliver a welcoming, memorable and enjoyable experience for all the visitors and customers, ensuring that they receive the highest level of customer service at all times whilst contributing to the commercial success of our collection of unique buildings. Successful applicants will be carrying out, but not limited to:
  • Meeting and greeting visitors upon arrival whilst operating a venues admission service
  • Assisting visitors with any questions or concerns they may have during their visit
  • Responsibility for cash handling and banking procedures
  • Working with volunteers and providers of workshops, activities and events
  • Patrolling the building and providing feedback on health and safety issues
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the building is maintained
  • Supporting with any other tasks as required
