Lighting Design Engineer

We are seeking a Technical Lighting Design Engineer to join a Bristol-based lighting company, specialising in refurbishment upgrades of existing buildings. This role is ideal for candidates ranging from recent graduates to those with several years of experience in lighting design. We are committed to delivering future-proof lighting designs and offer a comprehensive service from concept to completion.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assisting in the delivery of commercial and industrial lighting schemes and control system layouts.
  • Creating 2D layouts in CAD and ensuring compliant lighting design.
  • Designing control systems and preparing installation drawings and specification packages.
  • Conducting on-site surveys and technical reporting.
  • Developing lighting concepts, including detailed design calculations and simulations.
  • Producing project documentation such as presentations, schedules, and cost of ownerships.
  • Preparing reports and pre-planning information to ensure compliance with relevant standards and energy requirements.
  • Contributing to intuitive solutions to design problems and recording time spent on projects/tasks.
  • Client-facing interactions and working with the internal team from pre-contract to final handover.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualification in lighting design is preferred.
  • IT literacy with knowledge of relevant design software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and lighting calculation software.
  • Full UK driving license is preferred.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and strong time management skills.
  • Basic electrical installation knowledge and familiarity with lighting terminology.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and with different lighting control technologies.
