Job Summary
Quest Global PCB Design Engineers are responsible for the design, specification and testing of PCBs for gas turbine OEM projects in Derby and worldwide.
Example duties of the PCB Design Engineer:
Reference design assessment for Loop1a suitability
Schematic design and PCBlayoutdesign in Altium Designer
PCBA BOM and Manufacturing pack creation
Production support (liaison with 3rd party manufacturers)
Verification test development (functional bench test)
Support document approvals
CreatePCBAschematic and layout (Altium Designer files + pdf export)
Create PCBA manufacturing pack (Gerber files, layer stacking description, board geometries, drill file, component placement and assembly drawing etc.)
Create Functional test setup, plan and procedure reports
Work Experience
Required Skills (Technical Competencies) / Experience of:
Electrical Distribution (incl protection and reconfiguration): - Engineering modelling / simulation, definition / drawings, manufacture,
Electrical power generation: -Design, engineering modelling definition / drawings, materials devt, manufacture (incl DfM), testing/validation engineering.
Power Storage: Design, engineering, CAD, component selection, optimisation, definition/drawings,
Power Conversion: Engineering definition / drawings, DfM, manufacture, testing / validation engineering
Electrical Systems and integration: -Electrical cabling, thermals engineering, safety & reliability, verification & validation, systems design and simulation, EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) design, fault analysis, power sharing scheme definition, power management modelling
Basic understanding of the operation of a gas turbine in an aviation or marine application.
Appreciation of engine development testing and the certification process together with airworthiness and safety considerations, and / or previous experience in the aerospace or engineering industry or previous experience of engine, unit or component testing or instrumentation would be beneficial.
Good understanding of technical databases and design documentation, including technical drawings. This includes data manipulation in complex databases, writing technical reports and creation of drawings.
Good understanding of the requirements for export control and intellectual property control when transferring design data across company and geographical boundaries.
Candidates are required to be computer literate in MS Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer. More advanced MS Office skills such as Power BI, Visual Basic, Excel macros etc. would be advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications
BSc / MSc / Meng degree level qualification in electronics, engineering, or science discipline (or other degree discipline with additional gas turbine training or experience) or equivalent electronics industry experience
