About the role: 

As part of our Lifestyle Buying team, you’ll be responsible for putting together appealing ranges of Destination & Giftware products, aimed at a varied range of demographics. You’ll create & manage the category through product development, assortment planning and branded selection, whilst maintaining positive relationships with vendors through terms and pricing negotiations.  This is an exciting time to join Harding+ as we experience continued growth, working closely with our cruise line partners and brand partners to ‘make every cruise better’. As part of our Buying team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on our guests’ experience. 

Based in Avonmouth on a hybrid working basis – 3 days in office per week 

Compensation – competitive salary, bonus scheme, pension, 4 x life assurance, healthcare, 25 days leave annually (including Christmas shutdown) 

What you will be doing: 

  • Source new suppliers, directly or indirectly, ensuring suitable terms are agreed 
  • Manage and maintain positive vendor relationships, evaluating performance and negotiating cost prices and trading terms 
  • Create and build commercial ranges, based on insightful data analysis and trend forecasting 
  • Collaborate closely with the Merchandising team to build and trade a commercial range, in line with business KPIs 
  • Work alongside the Marketing team to recommend brand portfolios, share merchandising layout plans and support with development of brand display material and fixtures requirements 
  • Manage multiple projects and critical paths, ensuring new product launches are delivered on time 
  • Collaborate with our cruise line partners and visit ships to understand guest needs, profiles and preferences, and present category product strategy regularly throughout the year 
  • Manage a Buying Assistant, driving performance and personal development 

About you: 

  • Previous experience as an Assistant Buyer or Buyer in a retail environment 
  • Broad product knowledge across multiple categories including giftware would be highly desirable 
  • Passion for developing commercial ranges 
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in managing vendor relationships, utilising your strong negotiation skills 
  • Structured planning and organisation skills 
  • Adaptable attitude towards change, opportunities, and project management as designated from time to time 
  • Must have an existing right of eligibility to work in the UK
