Plant-Ex Ingredients Ltd are a growing company with a manufacturing site in Avonmouth. The company manufactures Natural Colours, Flavours and Extracts from a selection of raw materials, creating finished products for food manufacturers to use in their processing.
With a spend of approximately £10 million, the company is looking to hire a Purchasing Assistant.
The primary purpose of this role is to support the Buyer. The role also represents an opportunity to start or further a career in Purchasing. There is opportunity for progression in the form of taking responsibilities for different categories and increased supplier exposure. The ultimate objective will be to become a buyer in your own right.
Main responsibilities:-
- Place purchase orders with approved suppliers.
- Chase suppliers for delivery dates and communicate that information to the business, both within the company operating system and for materials arriving from overseas liaising with our freight forwards.
- Purchasing of Packaging & Non-Stock Items.
- Run reports - Supplier PO Proposal, Goods Due in, Re order points & highlight upcoming issues to the Buyer.
- Freight forwarding & Logistics liaison - shipping / collections.
Knowledge, experience and skills required:-Essential -
- Good attention to detail
- Computer literate with experience of databases
- Experience of co-ordinating & scheduling work
- Excellent telephone manner & professional attitude
- Ability to prioritise work & meet deadlines
Desirable -
- Some purchasing experience and an understanding of supply chain management is useful, but not essential as support and training will be given from the existing team.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £25,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
