Are you an experienced Cost Manager, seeking a new permanent career move?

My client has an immediate opportunity for a Cost Manager to lead on commercial negotiations of all new and existing homes contracts.

The successful applicant will contribute to the overall Asset Management function including the delivery of the corporate and assets strategy to ensure organisational service direction and strategic objective targets are met.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on the management of cost control, reviewing multiple national contracts and projects circa £30m p/a, in order to influence and drive commercial change in efficient delivery.
  • Monitor contract / project costs and make recommendations on removing / preventing waste and better, more economical ways of delivering contract services and projects, including real digital innovation.
  • Lead on cost benchmarking/development, proactively challenging through value engineering and effective project reviews for national contracts and projects.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term strategic relationships with our key partners to create shared value.
  • Act as Homes lead on new contract negotiations with Procurement to add value and drive efficiencies through intelligent, creative and strategic procurement.
  • Support Operations colleagues with the valuation of contract variations and claims
  • Support the procurement team with commercial and contractual issues
  • Support delivery team with contractual performance issues
  • Lead on the building and management of sustainable and meaningful partnerships so that our contractors are resilient, and profitable whilst delivering good quality services in the way our customers expect.
  • Assist in the design of Customer involvement strategies to ensure that residents have a voice in shaping and improving service outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures to ensure there are no statutory, regulatory or contractual breaches.

Requirements

  • Several years working as a QS or cost manager for a large organisation.
  • Educated to HND level or equivalent, professional qualification in construction, housing, management or property.
  • Proven experience of developing long term strategic partnerships and embedding key values with stakeholders.
  • Proven experience of working with national multi-disciplined teams and supply chains across a wide geographical area.
  • Ability to employ software to analyse information and use data effectively to inform decision making.
  • Proven experience of driving costs down whilst improving economic and social value.
  • Track record of achieving measurable and significant savings and performance improvements.
