Hays is currently working with a government organisation who are looking for an IR35 Assistant on a temporary basis for 3 months. This role can be worked remotely. Pay for the role is open to negotiation based on experience.

Position Overview:
You will support the Tax Accountant in managing IR35 compliance by creating and maintaining the IR35 database. This role involves active engagement with National Business Units and Districts, fostering collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders like Contracts Managers, and external stakeholders such as agencies. You will provide regular reports to management on IR35 compliance, identify actions, set timelines, and escalate issues when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain an IR35 database to track all suppliers identified
  • Ensure all key documents, such as the Status Determination Statement (SDS) and contracts, are received and uploaded to SharePoint in the correct District/Business Unit folders.
  • Ensure all suppliers engaging have been assessed using CEST and have a Status Determination Statement (SDS).
  • Ensure all SDSs are complete with relevant information, and reasons given are consistent with CEST.
  • Address any appeals received from in-scope workers promptly and ensure all documents are saved in SharePoint.
  • Assist Contracts Managers with any 'Undetermined' assessments when using CEST.
  • Establish a process for regular status reporting to management.
  • Assist the Tax Accountant in training Contracts Managers as needed.
  • Ensure the IR35 guidance document is current with legislation and find ways to ensure its maximum effectiveness.

    Skills, knowledge & experience

  • Essential Professional and Technical experience
  • Experience of the IR35 compliance legislation and processes.
  • A reasonable level of skill in using Microsoft Excel and competence with other Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with financial systems.
