Job Description:
My client are currently seeking a talented and experienced Control Systems Engineer to support the Dreadnaught Programme. This 12-month contract position offers the opportunity to work onsite at our Bristol office, 4 days a week, and play a key role in defining, verifying, and providing in-service support for Control Systems solutions.
As a Control Systems Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- System Architecture Design: Developing system architecture, analysing, and allocating functional and safety requirements.
- Software Design & Coding: Designing and reviewing software for both legacy systems and the latest-generation PLC-based systems, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Procurement Support: Assessing design specifications and collaborating with the supply chain to procure compliant hardware and software solutions.
- Requirements Interpretation: Interpreting customer and derived requirements, validating them for systems or products.
- System Verification: Conducting systems verification, compliance checks, and regulatory qualifications.
- Installation & Support: Supporting the installation, commissioning, in-service diagnostics, and modification of systems.
- Control Software Implementation: Implementing control software and performing verification using simulation tools and real-time test environments.
Who We're Looking For:
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Qualifications: A degree or equivalent qualification in Systems Engineering, Controls, Electronics, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Teamwork: Ability to work as part of a team to deliver product development or application engineering solutions within business project timelines.
- Software Development Experience: Proven experience in structured software programming to a recognized standard.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate ideas, plans, and priorities to engineers across different disciplines.
It would be advantageous if you:
- PLC Programming: Have experience with Siemens Simatic S7 PLC programming to Level 2 or higher.
- Professional Registration: Are professionally registered as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer, or are working towards professional status.
- Regulated Industry Experience: Have knowledge of structured engineering processes within a regulated industry.
- Travel Willingness: Are open to occasional travel to support integration or commissioning activities at supplier or customer facilities.
- Automation Systems Experience: Have experience in configuring automation systems.
