Secondary teaching assistant

Are you looking to support students on a 1:1 basis who struggle with their learning. Do you have a passion for helping children acheive? 

Zen Educate are looking for a teaching assistant to work with two students in year 7 that have a low learning ability and need extra support. There are some speech and language barriers and one student has low self esteem. We are looking for someone that has experience in supporting children with special needs, and can work and approach students with lots of understanding and empathy but also be able to challenge where possible. 

The secondary school which is in south Bristol, is one of the smaller schools in Bristol and teaches students up to GCSE, so have no sixth form. The school foster a family feel and all round positive work culture. Students are described as being well behaved. 

Hours are 8:30-3:30, Monday to Friday and term time only. 

Requirements 

- Experience in working with children, ideally in a school environment. 

- Experience supporting with special needs, specifically speech and language and mental health would be desirable 

- Strong communication skills with the SENCO, teachers and parents

- Reliable, and able to commit to the work taken on, students can find change stressful so it's important that we find someone that is going to be dependable and not have numerous absences

- Flexible to the needs of the school and can work to students education health care plan and ensure that they are working towards their learning objectives
