Our client, a leading facilities management and professional services company, is seeking a Legal Director to provide expert guidance and advice to support their operations team. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Legal Director to join a dynamic and growing organisation. This is a key leadership role where you will oversee and provide expert legal support on a variety of areas such as commercial contracts, construction, compliance, regulatory, and more.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial law, with experience managing legal matters across various sectors. You will work closely with senior leadership, business teams, and external stakeholders, advising on risk and legal strategy and ensuring that the organisation's contractual arrangements comply with relevant law and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of all contractual and construction agreements relating to our clients schools, NHS and local authority activities, including PFI contracts.
  • Form part of the SLT and provide robust oversight for the UK operations business.
  • Provide legal advice on bids, contracts, and renewals.
  • Support transactional activities, including negotiation and finalisation of contracts.
  • Handle legal issues, such as termination, payment, and disputes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and policies.
  • Develop and maintain a precedent bank.
  • Establish strong relationships across the organisation.
  • Offer strategic legal advice to senior leadership and key stakeholders to support the organisation's objectives.
  • Identify legal risks and opportunities, providing proactive solutions to mitigate potential issues.

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 7 years PQE.
  • Expertise in commercial contracts, projects and construction law.
  • Dispute resolution and litigation experience.
  • Proven expertise in commercial contract negotiations and litigation, ideally within facilities management or related fields.
  • Top-notch interpersonal and influencing skills, enabling effective communication at all levels, including C-suite executives.
  • A proactive and innovative mindset, with the ability to thrive under pressure while delivering concise, solution-oriented legal advice.
  • Strong commercial awareness and client service skills.
  • Familiarity with standard form construction contracts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and adaptable to new systems.
