Role Summary -
We are recruiting for a Housing Advisor to join our clients Housing Options team. This role focuses on preventing and relieving homelessness among individuals and families by assessing their needs, offering tailored support, and ensuring compliance with the council's statutory duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and assess homelessness applications to determine and fulfil statutory obligations.
  • Manage a caseload, supporting individuals with complex needs and liaising with external agencies.
  • Provide expert advice on tenancy law, housing rights, and initiatives to prevent homelessness.
  • Mediate and conciliate between citizens and third parties to prevent homelessness.
  • Maintain accurate records, including personalised housing plans, in line with council procedures.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to achieve positive housing outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience conducting interviews and managing challenging conversations with the public.
  • A strong understanding of homelessness legislation and the ability to interpret and apply changes to policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to work with external organisations to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, mediation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines under pressure.
