One of Bristol’s thriving start-ups is looking for a passionate Full-Stack Engineer to help them build a fully funded medical diagnostic product which will help treat patients with one of the world’s biggest killer illnesses. This incredible solution uses sophisticated machine learning tech as well as a wide palette of languages and tools; they’ll look to you to help shape their technical direction and deliver a game-changing product to market.*2-3 paid trips to the Bristol office per year.What skills will you need
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in an engineering discipline, such as computer science, software engineering or electronics engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of professional software development experience in diverse, complex systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript (ideally React, although Vue is fine).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Self-starter, taking initiative to overcome blockers and finding solutions with a clear consideration of their trade-offs.
- Proven ability to deliver on complex projects from conception to completion.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable with using Docker, Unix , automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of secure programming and DevSecOps.
What you’ll be doingAlongside their Lead Developer, you will play a key role in developing innovative, robust, and secure software systems. You'll contribute to the design, deployment, and optimisation of their software platform, collaborating closely with Scientists, Hardware Engineers, and Bioinformatics and Machine Learning specialists to solve complex challenges. You will be integrating their Python-based machine learning code (alongside their machine learning team) and developing high performance tools, user-facing components/GUI and solutions to store and manage large-scale genomic datasets for analysis.Within the team you will help to ensure that software meets compliance standards and ISO regulations with requirements traceability, software verification, testing and QA.
