Special needs teaching assistant work.

Zen Educate are looking for a special needs teaching assistant to work in a special needs school on a full time basis starting as soon as possible. The role would have you supporting students on a 1:1 basis. Hours are 8:30-3:30, Monday to Friday and term time only. We are looking for someone that has experience in supporting special needs, this can either be from a previous school role or from a care background.

The school based in Thornbury cater to a wide range of learning disabilities from the ages of 5 -16. Some of the special needs that they cater to include severe learning difficultes, autism and down syndrome. We are looking for someone that can balance the needs of the student pastorally but also ensure that they get the best possible outcomes in their education.The ideal person will have an empathetic approach and able to advocate for the students that they support.

Requirements;

- Experience with special needs is required

- Ideally we are looking for someone that has supported children before, either in a school environment or via an alternative.

- Good behaviour management skills and able to have good boundaries with students.

- Strong communication skills with other members of staff and parents. Is also able to follow the instructions as laid out by the teacher.

- Consistent and reliable. Special needs children are sensitive to change, so we are looking for someone that can honour their commitments.

- Enhanced DBS on the update service, should you not have one, you can apply for one as part of the your application.
