We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join our team, committed to providing highly individualised learning programmes designed to meet the specific needs and aspirations of learners as detailed in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This role requires unflinchingly high aspirations for all young people and a continuous commitment to understanding and addressing their diverse, complex needs.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Ensure that all learners undertake highly individualised learning programmes based on their EHCPs.
  • Deliver effective teaching, learning, and assessment, enabling learners to make better than expected progress.
  • Undertake effective initial assessments to establish learners’ existing knowledge and skills, facilitating tailored educational planning.
  • Design and implement project-based study programmes that allow learners to develop skills and knowledge as agreed in their Individual Learning Plans.
  • Continuously assess learner progress through creative and person-centred methods, and support learners in building achievement portfolios.
  • Use data and information to review progress and guide necessary interventions and improvements.
  • Write and implement positive behaviour support plans using evidence-based strategies.
  • Co-plan and collaborate with support staff to ensure effective learning support and resource development.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents, carers, and local authorities to keep them informed of learners’ progress and involved in setting improvement targets.
  • Support learners in acquiring work-based skills through various activities, aiming to facilitate their transition to active community life.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an SEN Teacher or similar role, with a focus on individualised learning.
  • Strong understanding of the legal and practical aspects of EHCPs and SEN education.
  • Ability to create and deliver tailored educational plans and assessments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with learners, parents, and educational professionals.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and data management tools to enhance learning and track progress.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with sector trends.
