The Role:As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs. You will design and deliver personalised learning plans that accommodate each child's unique challenges and strengths. Your role will also involve working closely with other professionals, parents, and the wider school community to ensure every student receives the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personalised Learning: Plan and deliver tailored lessons to meet the individual needs of students with SEN, including those with Autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
  • Student Progress: Monitor and assess the progress of students regularly, providing targeted feedback and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Behavioural Support: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support positive behaviour and emotional well-being in the classroom.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCO, and other specialists to develop and implement effective support plans for students.
  • Parental Engagement: Maintain open and effective communication with parents and carers, updating them on progress and addressing any concerns.
  • IEP Management: Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each student, setting realistic, achievable targets to promote academic and personal growth.
  • Inclusive Environment: Foster an inclusive, respectful classroom culture that encourages students to participate and thrive, regardless of their individual challenges.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Must hold QTS, with experience working with SEN students in either a mainstream or special education setting.
  • Experience in SEN: Proven experience teaching students with Special Educational Needs, with a clear understanding of SEN frameworks, IEPs, and the wider SEN code of practice.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with students, parents, and professionals alike.
  • Patience & Empathy: A patient, compassionate approach, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching styles and approaches to meet the varied needs of SEN learners.
