The role for a Principal Transport Planner offers the successful candidate a chance to work with a team of experts in transport planning on some of the most interested development projects in the UK. You will have an opportunity to lead and mentor junior staff while engaging with clients and build industry partnerships.

What you'll need to succeed
Our client would love you to have a HNC or degree in Transport Planning, Geography, or Mathematics but it's not essential, as long as you have industry experience. In fact, they will even provide all the support you'll need to gain a formal qualification if you don't already have one.
Â
You should be experienced in supporting a wider team in the analysis of transport impacts, including the identification of suitable trip generation rates using TRICS and have a strong understanding of different distribution and assignment techniques. Â We would also like you to have detailed experience of using ARCADY and PICADY, and perhaps LINSIG. You are also likely to have experience in junction design (or understanding of the elements of the design process) and have provided / produced input to written reports.

You shall have a proven commercial awareness and judgement. Have the drive and self-motivation to continuously develop your skills. Be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and to be able to build and develop relationships, both internally and externally. Be able to demonstrate developing and maintaining an effective network of contacts. Ability to apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating solutions and the ability to lead and motivate staff by example.
