Senior Transport Planner

Location: BristolSalary: £30,000 - £55,000 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK's leading independent consultancies, recognized for its expertise in transport planning and delivering innovative, sustainable solutions across a wide range of projects. This specialist practice adopts an integrated approach to support clients from project inception through to construction. Their mission is to create better places through good design, ensuring both effective and deliverable outcomes.

Role Overview: As a Senior Transport Planner, you will be an integral part of the team, focusing on a variety of projects that span the full transport planning lifecycle. Your primary responsibilities will include developing movement strategies, supporting strategic site master planning, and working on reserved matters applications. You will have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects that make a significant impact on communities and environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare technical reports including Access Appraisals, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and other relevant assessments.
  • Carry out junction capacity modelling and initial CAD design work, including Swept Path Analysis.
  • Liaise with clients, external project teams, and key stakeholders to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Represent the company at meetings, public consultations, and exhibitions.
  • Collaborate with other team members to deliver transport planning solutions.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for an adaptable and skilled Senior Transport Planner with the following key attributes:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience in transport planning, with a demonstrated commitment to CPD and a growing professional network, ideally within the south-west region.
  • Qualifications: A degree in a relevant subject (Geography, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Planning, Transport Planning) is preferred but not essential. Additional qualifications, including those related to transport planning, are a plus. Working towards or achieving TPS PDS is desirable.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in preparing feasibility studies, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and CAD design, with experience in software such as TRICS, TemPro, and Junctions 9 (Arcady/Picady). Experience with LinSig, GIS, or Microsimulation is an added advantage.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and numeracy skills, including proficiency in MS Excel. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential for presenting complex transport issues clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Organizational Ability: Strong time management and multitasking skills with a focus on delivering high-quality reports and outcomes independently.
  • Creative Mindset: Ability to contribute to professional marketing and promotional materials is advantageous.
