Bristol + M4 Corridor

Home based.

  • Fully kitted van provided.
  • Specialist tools provided.

  • 32 days holidays including bank holidays.

The Role

A newly created position due to continued growth across the UK, you will be responsible for providing maintenance and attending to breakdowns. This role is crucial in ensuring customers receive timely and high-quality service by repairing equipment correctly on the first visit.

The company is a leading UK-based manufacturer of specialist vehicles, particularly known for building truck bodies for sectors such as construction, waste management, and environmental services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment as per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Attend to breakdowns as required.
  • Complete paperwork and update live systems accurately.
  • Manage the designated service area effectively and efficiently.
  • Carry out repairs in the workshop when necessary.
  • Conduct basic on-site repairs, including basic welding, electrical repairs, and hydraulic maintenance.
  • Repair and maintain heavy-duty commercial vehicle bodies, including rigid tippers, tipper grabs, skiploaders, hookloaders, and hotboxes + cement mixers.
  • Service hydraulics, tailgates, sheeting systems, and other mechanical components to ensure they are functioning correctly and safely.
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities to introduce the business to new clients, contributing to the growth of the service area.

Essential Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds or equivalent qualification.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

Desirable:

  • Apprentice trained.

Essential Skills & Knowledge

  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
  • Proven track record in mechanical and hydraulic repairs.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Basic electrical skills for simple repairs
  • (Advanced electrical knowledge is not required).
  • Clear and effective communication.
  • Logical approach to diagnostics.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
  • Basic welding skills.
  • Customer service skills - Ability to interact professionally with customers and manage expectations effectively.
  • IT/System knowledge - Familiarity with software for tracking job progress and completing system documentation.
  • Time management - Capable of managing schedules and prioritising tasks efficiently.
  • Valid driving licence - Required due to the field-based nature of the role.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly, with a willingness to work outside normal hours as needed.
