A leading environmental services provider is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their Environmental Fate team in Devon, South West England. They provide high quality marine and freshwater ecotoxicology, environmental fate and analytical chemistry services to the global pharmaceutical, agrochemical and wider industries. Water quality is a subject close to the hearts of many, and will mean you work in a role with a tangible impact on the world around you.

What you’ll do:

In this role, you will work as part of an experienced team to support environmental fate studies. This will involve maintaining chemical inventories, following standard operating procedures (SOP’s), operation of laboratory equipment including calibration and preventative maintenance.

Initially, you will receive supervision as you learn to manage your work priorities, eventually taking on more responsibility and working independently. Over time, you will contribute to method development and the preparation of samples for analysis.

  • Maintain chemical inventories and liaise with suppliers as needed.
  • Follow SOPs and maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
  • Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment, including preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Support a positive culture of safety and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Deliver high-quality results on time, working flexibly with team members to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Assist in developing methods for environmental fate & physical chemistry studies.
  • Author analytical method protocols, SOPs, and reports.

Your background and skills:

Positive, can-do attitude with a desire to learn new skills.

Experience with HPLC, radiochemical detection techniques, and sample preparation for environmental matrices.Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.

BSc or relevant experience
