Secondary Teacher of PE - Canterbury

Academics Ltd, Kent are recruiting for a teacher of PE to join one of our thriving secondary schools in Thanet, Kent. Starting in January 2025, applications are sought from inspirational secondary school PE teachers, to join an innovative department within a highly successful, supportive, and dynamic school.

The school is considered as 'Good' by Ofsted and students from this school are found to be highly engaged in their learning. The secondary school is located within the Thanet area of Kent and is easily accessible via car as well as by a number of public transport links.

We welcome applications both from ECTs and from experienced teachers who want to broaden their experience in a dynamic and innovative department.

The school are looking for someone who:

  • Good honours graduate with a QTS qualification to teach PE at KS3 and KS4
  • Successful experience of teaching PE in a comprehensive school, which could include teaching practice
  • Experience of teaching GCSE PE
  • Evidence of further study or training (not required for ECTs)
  • An understanding of current curriculum issues in PE education, and experience of teaching a range of activities
  • The ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Sympathy with the aims and ethos of the school
  • An understanding of, and a commitment to carrying out, equal opportunities policies
  • A commitment to contribute to the running of extra-curricular activities, including fixtures
  • Familiarity with the principles underlying P.E. teaching at every level and new developments in P.E.
