Hours - Monday to Thursday 8 am - 5 pm Friday 8 am - 2:30 pm

Purpose of the Approvals Engineer:
The purpose of the role is to provide implementation and management of an effective legal compliance program - focusing on global safety standards and directives relating to machinery equipment. Act as the company expert, resolving employee concerns and educating the team on the latest regulations and associated design philosophies.

Main duties and responsibilities of the Approvals Engineer:

  • Act as the technical authority for all legislative compliance and product safety.
  • Carry out detailed testing on all new products and existing products where required and generate reports for use in manuals and other documentation.
  • Actively maintain and update approvals/certifications on units to the latest relevant standards.
  • Carry out inspections and analysis of products in accordance with the appropriate global legal safety requirements to enable product certification.
  • Maintain a product compliance database that supports the business's needs.
  • Participate in the design of new products to ensure compliance with the required certifications.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current worldwide compliance regulations and directives.
  • Act as point of contact for all external compliance testing (e.g. EMC, IP etc.)
  • Ensure that all technical manuals and product documents are correct and in accordance with the relevant directives and standards.
  • Act as point of contact for UL/METlabs inspections and approvals and carry out corrective actions where required.
  • Regularly audit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks.


Experience/knowledge requirements for the Approvals Engineer:

  • Health & Safety knowledge, especially in relation to electronics and electrical installations.
  • Meticulous & accurate documentation skills.
  • Technical, analytical, and able to pick up new technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with some electrical/mechanical knowledge.
  • Quality or inspection experience.
  • PAT & Flash (Hi-pot) testing.
