We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Developer to join the team on a full- time, permanent basis. In return,you will receive a salary of £38,825 - £41,193 per annum depending on experience.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

As the Systems Developer, you will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and implementation of software to support Brockenhurst College’s systems development strategies.

Responsibilities as our Systems Developer will include:

  • Work closely with and assist the Learning Technology and Development Manager to scope and develop systems development plans.
  • Design, develop and maintain software in-line with the college’s systems development plans, including integrations between systems where data is transferred and accessed internally.
  • Ensure consistent design, user experience and accessibility across all developed systems.
  • Assist in supporting and mentoring other members of the team to share knowledge and development techniques, identifying training needs as appropriate.
  • Work with the college IT teams to ensure systems developed by the team comply with GDPR and access permissions are secured using current best practices.
  • Work with the college MI team to ensure data is correctly stored, managed and accessed efficiently and effectively.
  • Undertake relevant research and development activity to ensure work completed is always using effective tools and techniques.
  • Communicate effectively about technical systems and solutions with non-technical colleagues at all levels of the organisation.

As our Systems Developer, you’llideally have:

  • Level 3 in an IT or development related qualification, or relevant work experience.
  • Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Experience of working in an office environment using administrative systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of MSSQL database modelling, design, building and maintenance.
  • Knowledge and experience with C#, .NET, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (or derivatives).
  • Knowledge of working with RESTful APIs, web services and version control (e.g. Git).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Option for remote working for the right candidate.
