Team Manager - Children’s Safeguarding and Care Planning

We are on the lookout for dedicated and experienced Team Managers to join our Children’s Social Care safeguarding team. This is a pivotal role in our journey to excellence, following our recent Ofsted rating of “outstanding”. If you are a registered Team Manager with a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people, we want to hear from you.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assess and provide services to children in need within the framework of appropriate legislation, regulations, and departmental procedures.
  • Manage a limited caseload of complex and problematic situations.
  • Ensure efficient and effective service provision, liaising with various stakeholders.
  • Maintain high standards of professional practice and promote enhancement within the team.
  • Supervise professional staff, providing supervision, training, and personal development.
  • Deputize for the Group Manager as required, managing duty, allocating priority work, and providing support and guidance.
  • Chair a range of professional, statutory, and interagency meetings.
  • Make recommendations regarding budget use to support care plans and exercise delegated budgetary powers.
  • Undertake training, maintain knowledge of changes in procedures, legislation, and professional practice.
  • Develop practice within the team, contribute to training, and represent the team on various bodies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Registered with Social Work England or able to obtain registration prior to commencement of employment.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation.
  • Experience in supervising complex casework and contested care proceedings.
  • Experience in supervising, supporting, and coaching social workers.
  • Practice teaching experience and raising practice standards.
  • Ability to work within a legislative framework and manage time effectively.
  • Creative thinking in meeting children’s and families’ needs.
