Planning Officer required for large Housing Organisation

We are looking for a qualified and experienced planning officer, with recent experience in Development Management at a Local Planning Authority. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deal with a range of non-major applications and pre-application enquiries. The role is hybrid, with some office attendance expected as well as a need to carry out site visits, but with home working supported for part of the working week.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Handle all types of planning and planning related applications for consent, permission and approval.
  1. Present the Council's case at appeal in written representations, informal hearings and local inquiries.
  1. Attend Plans Sub Committee and delegation meetings to assist in the determination of applications.
  1. Investigate and report on alleged breaches of planning control.
  1. Attend in Court and represent the Council's position as required.
  1. Deal with all correspondence related to planning issues.
  1. Provide pre-application advice to applicants and third parties.
  1. As required carry out any other duties within the planning division including duties in the development plan and heritage and urban design sections.
  1. Attend meetings in and out of office hours as required.
  1. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the post, as required to ensure the efficient and effective running of the Department / Section.
