Position: Infrastructure Engineer - Legacy Systems SpecialistLocation: Bromley

About the Role

Are you ready to tackle the challenges of legacy systems and make a significant impact on our IT infrastructure? My client is seeking a proactive and innovative individual to join their team on an initial 6 month fixed term contract as an Infrastructure Engineer.

In this role, you will work closely with end users and application experts to understand business requirements and develop solutions for the legacy applications running on outdated Microsoft operating systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with end users and application experts to understand the business needs of legacy applications.
  • Develop and implement plans to:
    1. Upgrade the host operating systems and ensure application compatibility.
    2. Propose and implement fully supported replacement applications.
    3. Isolate legacy applications to mitigate security vulnerabilities and ensure network updates do not affect them.
  • Test and document solutions for all required legacy applications.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Experience with Windows Server 2008 - 2022.
  • Knowledge of security vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services.
  • Understanding of domain structures and group policy.
  • Proficiency in scripting for automation.
  • Experience with FoxPro and Access 97.
  • Ability to work outside of business hours when required.
