We are currently representing Bromley Council , who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate £21.80/hr which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Planner. This role will be: BR1 3UH

Key Responsibilities as an Planning Officer, you will:

  • Handle all types of planning and planning related applications for consent, permission and approval.
  • Present the Council’s case at appeal in written representations, informal hearings and local inquiries.
  • Attend Plans Sub Committee and delegation meetings to assist in the determination of applications.
  • Investigate and report on alleged breaches of planning control.
  • Attend in Court and represent the Council’s position as required.
  • Deal with all correspondence related to planning issues.
  • Provide pre-application advice to applicants and third parties.
  • As required carry out any other duties within the planning division including duties in the development plan and heritage and urban design sections.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the post, as required to ensure the efficient and effective running of the Department / Section.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Essential:

  • Ability to communicate orally in a clear and confident manner with a wide range of people at all levels.
  • Able to write succinctly and in plain English, reports on Development Management matters.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to think laterally and work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to present the Council's case at appeal.
  • Able to work with others as part of a team.
