This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting students to achieve their academic goals, develop essential literacy skills, and prepare for their exams in a supportive and dynamic environment.As an English Lecturer, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons, monitor student progress, and provide tailored support to ensure all learners succeed. You will be part of a dedicated team committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning experience.Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in GCSE and Functional Skills English.
  • Prepare students for their exams through effective teaching strategies, assessments, and feedback.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students, helping them to overcome challenges and succeed in their studies.
  • Design and develop lesson plans, learning resources, and teaching materials.
  • Assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements.
  • Participate in team meetings, departmental activities, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching and learning practices.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • A degree in English or a related field (or equivalent).
  • Teaching experience in GCSE English and/or Functional Skills English.
  • Sound knowledge of the GCSE English curriculum and Functional Skills requirements.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for helping students develop their literacy skills and achieve their full potential.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
