Head of Payroll Business Partner – Up to 80k – Bromley, Kent

Excelcare is a progressive, privately owned organisation going through an exciting time of growth and digital transformation. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Payroll Manager or Head of Payroll to join our hard-working and well-established Payroll Team to drive change. We have circa 3k employees who operate within a number of our businesses spanning 31 care homes, supported housing, leisure and home care.   Our Support Office is based in Bromley, Kent.

By joining us as Head of Payroll Business Partnering you will become one of the ‘Excelcare family’ and in return for your dedication and hard work you can expect:

·        Salary: Up to 80k per annum

·        9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday

We are looking for a Head of Payroll Manager with an eye for detail processing fortnightly and monthly payrolls accurately and in-line with current legislation.

About the Head of Payroll Business Partner role

·        Actively contribute to the strategic vision of the payroll department.

·        Manages workflows and ensures all payroll transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner.

·        To lead and guide the Payroll Team to ensure that employees are paid accurately and within the payroll deadlines and in line with company policies.

·        To drive digital change as we are in the process of introducing new systems to streamline the payroll process.

·        In addition to taking ownership of the payroll function you will ensure our processes are efficient, streamlined, automated and simple but ultimately that they meet the needs of our colleagues ensuring confidence in their pay.

·        You will work closely with colleagues within the HR and Finance teams as well as with our Senior Management Team so the ability to build & maintain relationships at all levels is key.

·        Lead by example with personal development and coaching the team to advance their learning and individual potential.

·        Be agile and open minded in the approach to new challenges and seek opportunities to enhance project delivery through new technology

·        Participate in projects relating to the development of the integrated Payroll-HR-Finance database, taking a lead on identifying possible improvements to the systems and playing a key role in implementing agreed changes.

·        Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

About you

·        Prior relevant experience working in a similar role is essential as is your excellent knowledge of pay related legislation to ensure company compliance and ensure we are forward thinking for all key changes that may be introduced.

·        Experience of using Mitrefinch – Flexipay Payroll system, now part of One Advanced is a must.

·        Experience and exposure to a multi-site operation of salaried and hourly paid teams with differing pay scales and rules which apply to a wide range of role types.

·        Manages workflows and ensures all payroll transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner.

·        Drive and enthusiasm to make change and ensure that your team has the tools, knowledge and coaching to embrace new ways of working and system upgrades.

·        Demonstrates professionalism and understanding with employees to ensure they understand the procedures for being paid correctly to avoid non-payment and reduce payroll queries.

·        Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders.

·        Strong understanding of varying complex payroll cycles and rules.

·        A proven track record of building internal and external relationships.

·        Professional communication skills, specifically in negotiating with and influencing teams and stakeholders

·        Ability to solve problems as part of a diverse team.

·        Ability to use payroll technical knowledge and insights in a fast-paced and changing environment.

·        Ideally you will hold a payroll qualification
