IT Support Engineer – based in Bromley, Kent – up to £40K

Excelcare are a privately owned care provider based in the heart of Bromley, Kent. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Support Engineer to join our IT Department to support over 3,000 users and work collaboratively as part of a wider team.

We are continuing growth within the department and organisation. You would be joining at a pivotal time, while we embark upon our digital transformation program. The goal is for our Operations, Care, Quality & Central Services systems to work seamlessly together to support all users and ultimately allow us to operate in a highly effective business.

What you can expect:

35k-40k depending on experience.

Permanent role.

Monday – Friday at our Head Office in Bromley. Frequent day visits to Care Homes in London, Essex, Cambridge and Milton Keynes areas.

A full driving license is required for this role.

About the role:

The role of the IT Support Engineer will involve working as part of a team providing 1st and 2nd line remote and on-site support to the services across London, Essex, Cambridge and Milton Keynes areas. The ideal candidate for the 2nd Line IT Support Engineer role will have at least 3-6 years of experience in maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting a range of software and equipment issues. You will have strong expertise and the ability in system rollouts and upgrades such as telephony (VoIP), networking, desktops.

Main responsibilities as IT Support Engineer:

  • Working closely with IT Project Manager and Managed Service Provider on the VoIP deployment project.
  • Undertaking site surveys for data collection on infrastructure readiness for the VoIP migration.
  • Testing\tracing data cables if needed, occasional replacement of faulty or broken data sockets.
  • Installing and configuring network switches and routers.
  • Installing new phone handsets, patching network switches.
  • Testing new VoIP hardware and setup to provide best available solution for the customer needs.
  • Provide basic training to the customers on newly deployed systems.
  • Setting up users\devices on VoIP system, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Documentation and user guide preparation.
  • Keeping track on task progress, blockages, and issues.
  • Frequent site visits to branch office in London, Essex, Milton Keynes and Cambridge areas.

Skills and experience:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of IT/Network installations and support.
  • Experience working with structured (CAT5/6) cabling.
  • Experience installing and supporting Hosted (VOIP/SIP) telephone solutions such as 3CX, Splicecom, Yealink.
  • Experience installing and supporting network hardware such as routers and switches supplied by Draytek, Meraki.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for both on premise and hosted telephony solutions.
  • Good understanding of SIP, VOIP and networking in general especially network switch and router configuration.
  • Good organisation skills and a high attention to detail.
  • A current UK driving license.
