An established organisation in the plant hire and equipment rental sector is looking for an experienced Plant Hire Manager to oversee hire operations, ensuring smooth, efficient, and profitable management of equipment rentals. This role is ideal for someone with strong commercial awareness, transport planning expertise, and leadership skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities: Hire Operations & Fleet Coordination- Oversee the full end-to-end hire process, from customer inquiries to equipment returns.
- Ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Plan and coordinate equipment deliveries and collections, optimising transport routes for efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure all machinery is serviced, inspected, and available for hire.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring exceptional service.
- Proactively identify new business opportunities, driving hire revenue through client retention and acquisition.
- Supervise and support hire desk staff and drivers, providing guidance and training.
- Set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and ensure a high standard of customer service.
- Provide regular updates on hire performance, transport efficiency, and customer feedback.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance service quality and productivity.
- Proven experience in plant hire, construction, or fleet management.
- Knowledge of heavy plant machinery and equipment hire processes.
- Experience in transport planning and logistics, including vehicle routing and load optimisation.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Organisational and problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Commercial awareness, with a focus on business growth and profitability.
- Proficiency in operational software for hire desk management, scheduling, and reporting.
- Leadership or Management certification.
- Experience in logistics and fleet operations.
- Full-time, permanent position based at a depot location.
- Core working hours: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility for occasional overtime.
