We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join a secondary school in Bromley. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various scientific disciplines and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. This role involves educating students in key scientific concepts, encouraging critical thinking, and promoting a love for science through engaging lessons and practical laboratory experiences.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards.
- Teach various scientific subjects, including but not limited to Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Biochemistry.
- Conduct laboratory experiments and demonstrations to enhance students' understanding of scientific principles.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to maintain a conducive learning environment.
- Provide individual tutoring and support for students who require additional assistance.
- Assess student performance through assignments, tests, and projects, providing constructive feedback to promote improvement.
- Engage in scientific research projects that can be integrated into the classroom experience.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational practices and advancements in science.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of scientific concepts across various disciplines including Biochemistry and Maths.
- Experience in special education is advantageous for supporting diverse learning needs.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex information to students of varying abilities.
- Ability to proofread educational materials for clarity and accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills to manage classroom activities and resources efficiently.
- Experience in behaviour management techniques to foster a positive classroom atmosphere.
