We are looking for a dedicated Senior Practitioner to join our outstanding Children’s Safeguarding team. This role is crucial in supporting children and families, ensuring that children can thrive and reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safeguarding and care planning, with a focus on delivering high-quality social care services.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assess and provide services to children and families in need within the framework of appropriate legislation, regulations, and policies.
  • Proactively chase outstanding arrears from residents and update your line manager.
  • Liaise with various departments, NHS trusts, schools, carers, and other providers to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Maintain high standards of professional practice and promote enhancement within the team.
  • Supervise staff up to level III Social Workers and share operational management responsibilities.
  • Manage a caseload of children and families, making comprehensive assessments, planning interventions, and coordinating services.
  • Act as a key worker for children on the child protection register, formulating and updating protection plans, and providing reports to conferences.
  • Undertake responsibilities for children looked after by the authority, ensuring their health and education needs are met and all procedural requirements are adhered to.
  • Act as a duty social worker when required, providing advice and guidance to colleagues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree, Masters, C.Q. S.W., Dip.S.W., or equivalent.
  • Registration with Social Work England or able to obtain registration prior to commencement of employment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation, regulations, and guidance.
  • Knowledge of child development, family functioning, and dynamics.
  • Post-qualification experience in children and families social work within a statutory, voluntary, or independent sector organisation.
  • Ability to work within a legislative framework and maintain professional standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, with the ability to maintain concise case records and produce reports.
