Daily Supply Teaching Assistant

Veritas Education are working with multiple primary schools in Bromley who are looking for cover and daily supply teaching assistants. Your role would involve working with students on a 1:1 basis as well as supporting in the classsroom. You may work in a separate classroom with students who need additional support with accessing the learning during lessons. Experience as a teaching assistant would be preferable but not essential.

A successful daily supply teaching assistant will be calm, kind and ready to throw themslves into whichever school they are working at. They should recognise and celebrate the talents of each child, enabling them to grow in confidence and excel in both their educational and personal goals.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A DAILY SUPPLY TEACHING ASSISTANT

1:1 Teaching Assistant support for Pupils:

  • Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader
  • Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
  • Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils

Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers:

  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' work
  • Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
  • Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be

Qualifications needs as a daily supply Teaching Assistant:

Essential:

  • Good literacy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalent
  • Good numeracy skills- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent

Desirable for a Daily supply teaching assistant:

  • An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent
