We are supporting a well-established trust in their search for dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team, supporting pupils with social communication difficulties including ASD, SEMH, and other learning needs. The successful candidate will work under the direct instruction of teaching/senior staff, primarily in the classroom, to support access to learning and provide general classroom management support.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Encourage pupils to interact and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • Participate in students’ behaviour programmes and risk assessment processes.
  • Be aware of students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP) and learning programmes.
  • Attend to pupils’ personal needs and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters.
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour and classroom activities.
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons, assist in displaying pupils’ work, and provide clerical/administrative support as needed.
  • Support pupils in using basic ICT and assist with the maintenance of equipment and resources.
  • Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, and security.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in environments supporting pupils with complex needs.
  • Strong commitment to fulfilling the diverse needs of pupils with social communication difficulties.
  • Excellent teamwork, classroom management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate pupils towards high achievement.
  • Familiarity with educational and behavioural management strategies.
  • Commitment to the school’s diversity agenda and equality in education.
