Trident Healthcare Solutions are a specalist healthcare recruitment company looking to speak with HCPC registered Speech and Langauge Therapists (SLT / SALT) .

We are currently recruiting Band 6 and Band 7 Speech and Langauge Therapists for a NHS Client.

Education/QualificationsEssential

  • Degree/ graduate diploma or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as a speech and language therapist
  • Certificated graduate courses or equivalent in-house training in clinical specialty areas
  • Membership of special interest group

Desirable

  • Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

ExperienceEssential

  • High level of understanding of relevant clinical guidelines
  • Broad range of clinical experience at a Band 6 level including within the relevant clinical specialty
  • Experience of working in an acute, hospital based setting, including working within an MDT (and outpatients as appropriate)
  • Teaching/training of staff or students
  • Presentations to a range of groups
  • Supervision of more junior staff, assistants and/students
  • Active participation in an audit or project work
  • Computer literate, to include working knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of complex patients in the critical care and acute setting including those with tracheostomies and on ventilators

Desirable

  • Experience at band 7 within the clinical specialty

  • Evidence of specialist clinical skills and advanced clinical reasoning within the speciality area including tracheostomy management with ventilation
  • Ability to be proactive in service development
  • Ability to recognise unacceptable behaviour and act on this appropriately
  • Able to work autonomously and use initiative
  • Ability to reflect on and appraise own practice
  • Effective verbal communication skills with a range of patients and healthcare professionals regarding complex and sensitive issues
  • Effective written communication skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Able to manage clinical caseload, prioritise effectively and support more junior staff to do the same
  • Ability to work effectively within different teams both multi and uni-disciplinary
  • Ability to manage own time & meet deadlines
  • Ability to critically evaluate current research & apply to own practice
  • Competencies is instrumental assessment or working toward these

Critical care and tracheostomy. You will be required to cover the ITU and tracheostomy caseload i. This includes patients requiring invasive mechanical ventilation. You will need to have competencies in tracheostomy and critical care and be able to provide evidence of these.
