About Our Client:

We are working on behalf of a leading educational institution in Kent, renowned for its wide range of academic and vocational programs across multiple campuses in Southeast London. This institution is dedicated to delivering high-quality education and training to a diverse student population, including school leavers and adult learners. With courses in business, health and social care, engineering, creative arts, and more, they offer both full-time and part-time study options.

Role Overview:

Our client is seeking a dynamic Student Achievement Tutor who is available to start immediately on a temporary basis.

Key Responsibilities for the role of Student Achievement Tutor

  • Group Tutorials: Lead weekly group sessions that cover safeguarding, pastoral care, careers, social action, and study skills.
  • One-on-One Support: Provide individualised support, helping students set and achieve SMART targets, and identifying progression opportunities.
  • Student Monitoring: Oversee the progress of a caseload of approximately 300 students, ensuring the successful completion of all study program elements, including work experience and enrichment activities.
  • Intervention Strategies: Collaborate with curriculum teams and external agencies to implement attendance and behaviour interventions.
  • Pastoral Care: Act as the first point of contact for students requiring pastoral support, working closely with internal and external teams to remove barriers to achievement.
  • Engagement and Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with parents/carers, attending meetings, and contributing to student progress reviews.
  • Career Support: Guide students in their career development, including support with UCAS applications and personal statements.

Qualifications and Experience for the role of Student Achievement Tutor

  • Experience: Proven experience in working with young people, particularly in an FE environment
  • Group Facilitation: Ability to deliver engaging group sessions and conduct effective one-on-one meetings
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and multi-agency working
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and external organisations
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to a flexible working pattern, including participation in Open Days and enrolment periods
  • Professionalism: Ability to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality, and present oneself professionally as a representative of the College
