Role Overview:

As a Student Achievement Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students’ academic success and personal development. This temporary role is ideal for a proactive, approachable individual with a strong background in student support within an FE (Further Education) environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Group Tutorials: Lead weekly group sessions on topics such as safeguarding, pastoral care, careers, social action, and study skills.
  • One-on-One Support: Offer personalised support by helping students set SMART targets and explore progression opportunities.
  • Student Monitoring: Track the progress of approximately 300 students, ensuring completion of study program requirements including work experience and enrichment.
  • Intervention Strategies: Work with curriculum teams and external agencies to address attendance and behaviour issues.
  • Pastoral Care: Serve as the primary contact for students needing pastoral support, collaborating with internal and external teams to help students overcome challenges.
  • Engagement and Communication: Communicate regularly with parents/carers, participate in student progress reviews, and attend key meetings.
  • Career Support: Assist students with career planning, including UCAS applications and drafting personal statements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working with young people, ideally in an FE setting.
  • Group Facilitation: Proven ability to lead engaging group sessions and conduct productive one-on-one meetings.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with students, staff, and external organisations.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to flexible work patterns, including participation in Open Days and enrolment periods.
  • Professionalism: Ability to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality, and present a professional demeanour as a representative of the College.
