  • The role is ideal for experienced teachers seeking to move away from traditional classroom settings and work with students who may have low confidence due to time away from education.
  • Candidates must have QTS or equivalent, UK classroom teaching experience, and a strong background in supporting SEN pupils, especially those with autism and complex needs.
  • This is a temporary contract position with flexible hours, typically around 10 hours per week per student, and the salary is competitive based on experience.
  • Applicants need to have the right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS certificate, and two professional child-related references.

The Opportunity

As an Outreach Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lesson to bridge gaps in pupil's education and boost attainment levels. This opportunity is great for an experienced teacher who is looking to step away from the classroom to offer more personalised, enjoyable lessons.

Most of these pupils will have been out of education for some time, so the confidence levels may be very low. It is your responsibility to engage them back into learning and offer structure back into their daily routine.

We work with you closely to monitor the progression with each pupil by asking you to submit weekly reports, focusing on the highs and lows of the week and what subject areas were focused on. We also ask you to highlight engagement levels to ensure that the sessions are being beneficial to the young person.

The students that require support are often SEN pupils with EHCP's, tuition often takes place at home and will be in within Romford. A strong background of supporting SEN pupils with autism, SEMH and complex needs would be essential for this role.
