BASIC SALARY: Up to £60,000 dependant on your relevant experience

JOB DESCRIPTION: Production Manager, Manufacturing Manage  - metal finishing, powder coating
 
If you are an experienced Production Manager and want the challenge of transforming our powder coating facility, then we have the perfect role for you.
 
We supply powder coating services (automated and manual) including various stages of pretreatment to various aluminum products. You will be supported by 3 x Production Supervisors and an indirect team of Production Operators, Inspection team and warehousing.  
 
Our current production operation runs across 3 shifts: 6:00-14:30, 09:30-18:00 and 10:30-19:00 to provide a 13 hour production coverage 5 days week. This role as our new Production Manager will likely sit across those shifts at your discretion.
 
This opportunity has arisen after the departure of our Operations Manager and the business would like to replace this position with more of a hands-on Production Manager who will role up their sleeves and lead from the front. 90% of our customers are internal within our group, which brings various challenges. We have aspirations to increase our external customer base including growing and restructuring our production facility to achieve business goals.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Production Manager, Manufacturing Manage  - metal finishing, powder coating
 
· You will have full autonomy to run our powder coating facility, reporting into our General Manager
· Once you have identified the true OEE of our production facility - you'll Implement stronger KPI's to monitor quality, OTIF, H&S, housekeeping and budget control
· You will naturally increase our production capacity and improve existing production processes in line with projected sales targets for 2025
· One of your many projects will be to restructure our production department in line with business needs.
 
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Production Manager, Manufacturing Manage  - metal finishing, powder coating
 
· You will have solid production leadership experience gained within metal finishing, powder coating, paint spraying, anodizing or similar
· You will have strong experience of day-to-day people management and the challenges that throws up.
· Effective scheduling / planning with a strong appreciation of quality assurance, H&S and continuous improvement
· You will have a strong background in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering, maybe you will have some specific qualifications related to metal finishing or similar
· You might also hold relevant qualifications in relation to quality, health & safety or continuous improvement
 
We are genuinely open to hearing from aspirational Team Leaders or Cell Managers looking for their first step into production management - or existing Production Managers running a smaller facility but want to remain hands on.
 
THE COMPANY:
 
We are a well established Birmingham based powder coating facility who has gone through increase growth in recent years. Our potential was identified by our new parent company who bought up in 2022 and continuing to invest in our expansion. We have already been through large CAPEX upgrades and plan to continue that journey.
 
PROSPECTS:
 
There is a genuine opportunity for this Production Manager role to develop into our new Operations Manager role in the medium term, taking on more supply-chain and logistical responsibility. You will then be expected to develop your successor from within.
 
It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager - powder coating, paint spraying, anodizing, metal finishing, heat treatment, shot blasting, electroplating, polishing, passivation, galvanising, electropolishing, plating, coating, abrasive blasting.
