Our client, a leading company in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Design Safety Management Engineer to join their team in Broughton, Cheshire. This is a permanent, full-time role with hybrid working options available.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and maintaining the Safety Management System (SMS) element within the Design Management System (DMS)
  • Maintaining the Design Organisation Risk Register and administering reviews to ensure hazards are recorded, assessed, and mitigated
  • Investigating design-related occurrences and conducting root cause analysis
  • Supporting the safety assurance process, including resolution of non-compliances
  • Promoting the design organisation SMS and preparing key safety risks for airworthiness meetings
  • Coordinating with the Aviation Safety Team to meet design SMS requirements
  • Managing and monitoring subcontractor approvals and supporting audit activities
  • Researching regulations and advising on compliance matters


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in BAE-Safety Engineering and BAE-Mechanical design
  • Degree in Aeronautics, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Knowledge of MAA regulations, Part 21 DOA, and aircraft airworthiness regulations
  • Understanding of multiple aerospace design disciplines
  • Experience with Product Data Management tools
  • Good attention to detail and process adherence
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Eligibility for or holder of SC security clearance (sponsored if required)
